The order of operations is the difference between a result that looks like a real portrait lens and a result that looks like a smeared screenshot. The reason this tool keeps the subject and backdrop on separate layers — rather than flattening immediately into a single blurred-background image — is that real downstream workflows almost always want to do something else to the backdrop after the blur. Drop the layered output into Photoshop and you can slide the subject left or right, swap the backdrop for a different scene, add a colour-graded overlay, drop a brand-coloured wash behind the subject, or composite a logo into the soft backdrop without rerunning the cutout.
