The published economics of real-estate listing photography are surprisingly consistent across markets. A professional listing-photo session costs $150-500 in most US metros and $200-700 for a full virtual-tour package; the price band has held since the 2018-2019 NAR research that found professional photos drove a roughly 47% higher price-per-square-foot premium and a 32% faster days-on-market. The commercial logic for hiring a photographer is overwhelming for listings above $500,000 where a single percentage point of price uplift dwarfs the photo budget — and the math gets less clear at the lower end of the market, where a $1,500 commission on a $200,000 closing already lives at the edge of profitability for the listing agent. This page is for the lower end of that band: agents handling sub-$300K listings, FSBO sellers, rental-property managers, short-term-rental operators, and anyone who can take a competent phone walkthrough but wants the output to look studio-finished without the photographer fee.
